Nineteen year-old Susan Fitzpatrick from Keatingstown House, Kilkenny has been riding since she was four years old. An incredibly successful pony jumping career saw her win the individual Gold Medal at the European Pony Championships in Arezzo, Italy with Rock Dee Jay in 2013. Susan represented Ireland again at the European Championships at Millstreet in 2014 and helped the Irish pony team secure a Silver medal before collecting the Bronze Medal in the Individual competition.
Susan has also been riding horses for the last five years, qualifying for the 1.35m Young Rider class at the Dublin Horse Show in 2013 and was placed in numerous 1.40m classes in 2014. She was on the Silver Medal winning Junior European Team for 2015 and is now regularly competing in 1.50m classes.

Showjumping is an equestrian sport, where a single horse and rider combination compete against other combinations. It allows amateurs, professionals, male and female to compete alongside each other on an equal playing field and is competed across a level of both national and international competitions. Showjumping is the most popular equestrian discipline in Ireland with over 300,000 supporters.
Irish Team showjumping has hit many headlines over the years including the famous Aga Khan Team of Eddie Macken, James Kernan, Capt. Con Power and Paul Darragh, who between 1977 and 1979 won the Nations Cup in the R.D.S. The Irish Team were crowned the Samsung Nations Cup Champions in 2000. Wins in Falsterbo, Hickstead, Aachen, Dublin, St. Gallen and Wellington (USA) between 2011 and 2016 have added to this impressive tally.
